Beauty Parade-2008

Picture is worth a thousand words; how true! I am lost for words looking at these beauties and having a hard time picking a favourite. They are all very competitive, dressed up so elegantly and parading gracefully in the wind!

If you think you could pick a winner among these beauties, parading in my garden-please, let me know!

Thanks for trying!

Fruits- Gifts...of Heavens and Earth

Are they indeed fruits of my labor? Looking at them made me realize they are really gifts from the heavens and earth.

I devour them more with my eyes than with my palate. The scents of ripe peach on the tree permeate through my breath into brain reaching for my soul.......
Is gardening an effort to recreate Eden?
May be deep within our soul we have the image imprinted, the scents embedded of a wonderful past, happy childhood of human race. That may explain why we feel so happy and close to God when we work in the garden- just sit and look around or even just listen with eyes closed- it feels like heaven! Of course, isn't that the inner-most motivation buried under all the worldly worries- seek heaven-peace, unconditional love and happiness?

We all do have a piece of heaven in our own garden!

Independence Celebration!

We have a lot to celebrate; long gone are slavery and colonialism. We are all one-human race; in almighty God we trust!

Birdie Bath

Being an avid bird watcher-birds indoors-is a little out of taste for me. However, my son "J" convinced me the birds are better off with me than at the pet shop being in a crowded cage. So I ended up with these pretty little parakeets-flying wild in my house. Finally, I figured out how to provide a birdie bath for them. Just remove the top cover of their water feeder, once in a while-they just go wild & crazy! You can see for yourself how they enjoy bath-time!

Who is First? It is a group decision!
Foresty, first! Sky, next-Tweety
as our kids call her. Who else? Ladies-It's Nightly the gentleman's turn, now!
There, Sky goes second dipping-such fun watching the parakeets frolicking at bath! Maggie our Lab lays there and watches them fluff their feathers and chirp with excitement. I like to think they are all happy & content!

My Favourite Old Couple

How old could you be... I often wonder
How many storms and how many cold winters
Thou two shared and weathered, I do wonder
Bowing not of old age but of love still tender
Show of strength and endurance, I ponder
Now and forever accepting God's plan... You do inspire!

Rasberries- Nature's Anti-Oxidant Capsules for Good Health!

What an accomplishment could it be... holding a handfull of rasberries? Oh, I am very proud! Starting with a small twig with three leaves that were contemplating whether to wither or not...my rasberry bush and I have come a longway! We are the resilient ones-with a little encouragement would sprout and fruit bountiful.

Collecting a handfull almost everyday is unbelievable, especially considering the bird population that visit our backyard. Usually, the berries are harvested-I mean pecked on, by the early risers (not sure who) and I find only the hidden ones. This is the first time (in five years) I am enjoying a full harvest and that makes me wonder who is missing in action.
As far as I could tell the doves seemed to have moved away following the arrival and nesting of the Hon. Hawk couple, in our neighborhood. The other regulars missing are the squirrels and the blue jays-I see them rarely now.
I have never minded sharing the berries with my backyard regulars- but, I am happy to enjoy my rasberry smoothies (healthy dose of Anti-oxidants) on a daily basis this year. Whoever the early morning fruit harvesters were, I like to think that they have found a better haven!
